My Scribd yearly subscription just renewed today. And I have been with them for four years now. And it is the best $85 I spend yearly without regret.
Scribd is like Netflix for books. Both ebooks and audiobooks are included. And it is unlimited (to a point, if one reads too many audiobooks, you are stopped from reading the most expensive ones until the next cycle). Scribd also has a bunch (most) of magazines like in Apple News+ for those who don’t have Apple subscriptions or are not on the Apple ecosystem. And Podcasts for those who love that format.
Generally, most of my subscription services are with large players. Like Apple where we buy iCloud storage bundled with their other services like Music, TV+, News, Fitness+, etc. And Amazon where we have Prime, Kindle Unlimited, Audible Plus subscription with its 24 audiobook credits per year. Google with is Drive and Workspace. And Microsoft with its Microsoft 365. And the list goes on.
I typically read about 50-60 books over audio per year. And half of those are on Scribd. I also read ebooks occasionally due to my challenges with deep reading. But the advantage with Scribd is that it stops me from buying books that I would just want to skim around. The books I don’t end up buying probably run into a couple of thousand dollars per year.
If I did not have this subscription I would probably buy them on Kindle or paper books and then be left on my electronic or physical bookshelf gathering dust. That is a straight $2000 per year or more in savings. In fact, I am planning to give up on my Kindle Unlimited subscription when it expires next year.
Scribd also allows me to save on my Audible subscriptions. I normally do not use my Audible credits, but just save my next reads and suggestions to my Audible Wishlist or Scribd Saved lists. These now total over 1,000 books between the two on my pending lists. Normally the only books I buy from Audible are the Audible Originals exclusives not available outside of their ecosystem. Recently even some of these books are now available on Scribd, with Audible as a publisher. And I buy only the books which have not made their way to Scribd.
I am so happy with Scribd that I am glad to recommend their 60-days free subscription. And if you do use my link, for each paid subscription my account would get one month of free services. If you are a heavy reader of books, audiobooks, podcasts, and/or magazines, then Scribd is for you - a must-have subscription. Check it out…
