Oh, what a year it was. This one was memorable, to say the least. Like entering a new Millenium in 2000. The 9/11 in 2001. The US housing crash of 2008. The pandemic of 2020-2021-????
Reminds me of the true complexities of the world we live in. And one that we safely ignore and start believing in the predictability and comfort of a stable world we live in and take for granted.
Reminds me of Charles Dickens and how he starts his “Tale of two cities”…
It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom,
it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief,
it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light,
it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope,
it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us,
we had nothing before us,
we were all going direct to Heaven,
we were all going direct the other way
I do know there is a lot to moan and groan about, I am going to look at the positives that 2021 brought to me, in spite of the pandemic-themed year it was:
2021 taught me the meaning of family and togetherness
2021 taught me what little I need in order to live - the rest is just extravagance and waste
2021 showed that I did not need a lot of what I owned
2021 taught me to learn, learn fast, and then learn some more - it speeded up my nonstop learning
2021 brought me new connections - globally - adding over 800 people on LinkedIn and meeting tons of new people regularly online
2021 brought me to write these blog posts - every day since Jan 22, that is 343 consecutive days today
2021 allowed me to move away from work to be able to pick and choose the one I want rather than compromise and do work that is unfulfilling - and that such a possibility is possible.
2021 taught me that in life only a few big things are important, the little things are often not.
2021 taught me to accept life as it is with no expectations from it except to keep on trying to do your best. And accept what comes by.
And onward to build on these in 2022…
