There are several ways to buy groceries. We mostly start with a list of what to buy. And buy them.
But sometimes I make the list and then approach the buying process differently. I use the nearby grocer as a target location to walk to as my morning exercise. Going there is a good enough reason acts as an external motivation to go somewhere and when one reaches there you are far enough to get back home in order to complete a sufficiently long walk.
When there, I go through my list and buy the list by weight in order to balance the two bags that I carry back, one bag in each hand. It helps to have equally distributed weight on both arms. And top of the cardio from the walk, it adds some strength training to the arms from the weights carried. A quadruple win-win-win-win if one includes the motivational win and the grocery run as well.
