Today is the official start of Summer. June 21st. The longest day of the year. Sunset was around 9 PM and sunrise was at 5 AM. That is fifteen hours of sunlight.
Life is full of ups and downs. When things look up, they might be going down. And things are down, it might be actually going up. Everything has a half-life and keeps changing states. And things repeatedly move in cycles. Some we realize, some we don’t. Some cycles are so long that it eludes our memories. If we look far enough we can then realize these patterns. But, we aren’t built that way.
We are built with recency of memories. Oh, our poor simple brains. We generally want our recency effect to continue and get annoyed when the reality does not match our expectations. But if we accept that things run in cycles and are designed to change, then maybe, maybe it helps temper our expectations with reality.
Summer here will last around another couple of months before the temperatures drop drastically when September comes by. Downhill all the way to winter from there. And then the uphill cycle begins again, right in the midst of the cold and the winter.
