There is no one without pain. We are subject to a variety of pain - physical, mental, moral, societal, and environmental. There is no shying away from it. We can’t therefore trivialize it, ignore it, or park it and focus on the niceties. We can work on it to accept some that cannot be solved and work to improve things that can be improved to alleviate and ease some pain.
H/T for the Susan Cain quote below to George Raveling
We live in a culture that only wants to talk about what's going well. Anything that's not going well is positioned as a detour from the main road. The truth is that pain is not a detour from the main road. Pain is part of the road we walk as human beings.
— Susan Cain
