Empty is good
Muse #562 - accretive for the soul
Saturday, August 06, 2022
It was an unusually quiet Saturday morning. Many of my weekends are peppered with Formula 1 practice and qualification sessions, but lucky me they are on a four week summer break in August. So, it was quieter than usual. And quiet for me is unusual as I am not engineered for quiet.
I went to pick up my weekly mail from the mailbox and voila it was empty today. Another unusual phenomenon. I usually check the mail once a week after the Friday afternoon final delivery for the week, and there is always something there. Always have been. For years. For an unusual few weeks perhaps in the last few years I have had only junk mail which went directly to the recycle bin.
But today was a strange aberration. An empty but enjoyable one at that. Surprising even since I am engineered to expect something to be there. Waiting for me. Even if trivial.
Empty is certainly good for the soul. At least it was today.
