I thrive in novelty and therefore struggle with the mundane. But life is not that simple. There are mundane things that one needs to do. Everyday. Exercise. Chores. Being on top of finances. Looking for work. Sometimes even forced socializing.

One of the approaches of course is to gamify the mundane. Some of my repeating mundane tasks are already gamified. For example, my exercise and walks allow me to listen to books that I enjoy listening to. So, I focus on the book as a pathway to exercising. I use the same technique to mow the lawn or vacuum the house.

But I am working to see how I can extend it to all parts of the mundane things that I need to do. (Relabeling the need as a want does not get it done). So perhaps the new gamification experiments will help me with getting the mundane off the way. And clear a pathway to more of the novel things - imagination, creating, and innovating.

I shall report back on the experiments once they are in play.
