One of the trends that I noticed over the last few years of air travel is the move to cloth-based backpacks from synthetic and plastic woven ones. This change was especially more visible in Europe this time, and I could observe this all around. It is perhaps time to change my bags too, but I suffer from too many bags that have already been with me for several years. Ditching them early and replacing them might not be the right thing to do.
Plastic bottles and cans were missing a lot in Europe too replaced by recyclable glass bottles and cardboard cartons for water. Airlines were offering 100% recycled bottles for serving water. And top of it all was the Lufthansa announcement while landing in Mumbai “single-use plastic bags are no longer welcome in India and it you might be fined if one is found on your person <sic>”
Welcome to the era of anti-plastics and focused recycling (wherever these really happen). Hopefully, it is not too late for the planet already. And we shall know in the next 25-50 years… on what really happens.
