A large football-sized hornet’s nest had grown over a period of time in our backyard. It was too close to the house and had to be removed. We initially thought it was a wasp’s nest but the exterminator confirmed that it was deadlier. He helped kill off most of the hornets and removed the nest.
It was a hard choice to kill some of the insects but the tradeoffs had to be made. There were scores of hornets still let over and slowly dissipating from the tree and from our backyard over the afternoon. Several were buzzing around the front of our house possibly looking for nest locations near our front door and entrance areas. It was indeed hard to remove their home and leave them floundering.
It was a dilemma between good and bad. A Hobson’s choice between a rock and a hard place. Sometimes, there are no easy choices. Isn’t it?
