I am a dystopian optimist. And proudly so. Once you accept the reality as “dystopia” then one can answer the question “If you know it so (dystopia), what are you going to do about it to adapt, survive, and thrive?”
Here is my previous article written in November 2020 and posted on Medium / WordPress (I plan to take these down soon). The post is relevant today as it was one and a half years ago, so I am reproducing the same here as such.

I am a dystopian optimist
2020 has been a strange year and yet I thank the year for what it offered to me. It offered me time to think. It offered me a look into the reality that I could not deny. It offered me an opportunity to define what I need to do to live in this reality… and thrive in that reality and so for that, I am thankful.
There is so much dystopia around: The COVID situation for a start, the American elections, the disparity of us vs them that has shown up worldwide in this pandemic situation, the haves and the have not’s, the class structures of survival in this new world, the coming AI revolution (or one would even say that it has already arrived), the learning disparity, the ownership of data to large corporate advantage, fake news, polarized political extremities, etc., etc. And it is only going to get worse. And those who don’t believe that is true are going to be in for a rude awakening.
And yet when I look at the current world around me and a possible dystopian future — I ask myself, now that you know that it is indeed so, what are you going to do about it? I have the necessary attitude and the knowledge to help craft a response — a response not only of greedy self-survival but also helping share and trade ideas with others to create options for a larger swath of people that one could influence.
I am an active acquirer of new patterns — a shallow learner cross-connecting ideas and patterns to create new and different perspectives. Perspectives that could help create more options. That is what this blog is going to be about (another one of these countless dead blogs on the internet, emphasis added). How does one acquire multiple perspectives and put them to one’s advantage?
Faster at acquiring Better knowledge.
Faster at creating Better understanding.
Faster at applying Better insights.
And faster at scaling Better impacts. And I did use the dirty “Scaling” word…
I have never been more ready to start sharing my thoughts and helping ask questions that would give a multitude of perspectives and this is the start of my journey… and wherever this takes me, I am going to love what emerges from it.
Ring the bells that still can ring
