I recently have been traveling to Ottawa for work for the last couple of weeks. As I checked in to Hilton, they wanted my credit card and ID. My ID is ensconced in my iPhone Magsafe wallet and a hassle to pull out. I shouldn’t be, but that is another story.

Being too lazy to pull my ID out, I pulled out my Dog ID from my credit card pouch and handed it over to the clerk. I thought it will lead to a good laugh and some fun. The clerk had a glance at it and gave it back to me and said “Thank you!” - he hadn’t even glanced at the ID or seen it at all.

It shows how inattention permeates when we do our work and as humans, our mundane processes drive behaviors that don’t mean much when we do our work.

Question for me/us: How much attention do you give to anything you do?
