Is free speech really free?
Muse #460 - the ongoing twitter saga
Twitter and Elon are in the news with Twitter as a medium for a conversation about what a social media environment means to free speech. It will be interesting to see how this evolves and grows over time. And makes me ponder whether free speech is really free.
Musk talks about equally making the extreme left 10% and extreme right 10% both equally unhappy. Can this really be done with AI (or human systems) without bias? Any system or process is never bias-free - when there are humans, there is bias. A bias-free self-learning AI that determines right and wrong to lay down the rules of what is allowed and not allowed. I shudder to think of the consequences of such technology or systems.
Can one really say what one wants without consequences or costs? We are self-moderated beings. Can we really be unmoderated in the name of transparency and openness and perhaps honesty? There are no simple answers. Only time will tell.
