Is trust a better hope?

I hope I am going to be okay.
I trust I am going to be okay.
Two similar beliefs, but one infinitely stronger than the other. If you imagine a future, are you not better off imagining a stronger future that could be more accretive to you? Isn’t the future going to play out the same way anyway, irrespective of your beliefs?

hope — (of Germanic origin; related to Dutch hoop)
(n) a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. a feeling of trust.
(v) want something to happen or be the case.
