Recently someone close to me in my family died. I think of it as part of me died as life is in a continuum that encompasses us all.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the
continent, a part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a
promontory were, as well as if a manor of they friends's or of thine own
were.
Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And
therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
— John Donne (1572 - 1631) English clergyman & poet
Whenever someone dies, a part of the universe dies too. Everything a person felt, experience and saw dies with them, like tears in the rain.
— Paulo Coelho
“Tell your friend that in his death, a part of you dies and goes with him. Wherever he goes, you also go. He will not be alone.”
— Jiddu Krishnamurti, Philosopher
