One of the hidden benefits of writing every day is that once I have decided on a title or a theme to write about, I go around and have a magic ride on Pixabay.com and Unsplash.com searching for a picture to use to go along with what I write.
For about ten minutes or so I browse around until I find something appropriate. But, as I search, I end up seeing hundreds of photos from exceptional talent all over the world. And sometimes I start seeing a train of photos and I follow the chain by author, location, or other keywords to see more of that work. Kind of a virtual travel tour in a few short minutes. Seeing themes I have not seen before. New perspectives. Wonderful shorts of beautiful beaches, sunrises, and sunsets. Fantastic buildings and castles. Multiple hundred-year-old cities showcasing their ancient past. Farmscapes, mountains and the list is endless.
I guess these minutes compensate for the travel limitations that the pandemic has forced on me and the window to the world out there is one way of experiencing a sense of participating with what is out there, virtually.
I am thankful for that little joy each day. And to you for being there with me on that journey.
