Strange things happen in life. I have been playing the daily word game Wordle for about four months now and recently some its variants Quordle and AntiWordle.
I slowly have been getting bored as these games are just complicated and not complex as we just repeat process steps to get to the right answer. Tickles your brain at best. Sometimes with luck these answers are quicker sometimes slower and my last streak of completion had been going for over 100 days. And I was sure looking for reasons to stop.
Couple of days ago there was a signal. From a Gecko. Or the word “GECKO” came by (actually this day the word had been initially “FETUS” and had been changed by New York Times to this word before I played it). The word “Gecko” brought me memories. In 2014-15 I had consulted as Coach in Washington DC at GEICO, the insurance company and I thought I would stop the game with this memorable word that meant something to me. And I did just that. Stopped playing all the word games each day in one fell swoop.
But I did not stop with that. These were good times when I travelled to DC from Toronto each week and I loved Washington DC as a city to travel to. I dug up a memorabilia book that I bought while at GIECO in their company store to reread and it brought back more fond memories of working there.
Signals and signs are definitely triggers to meaning making and these are all around you to strike a chord, if you want to make those strange and crazy connections. For me a great way to end my streak of Wordling, without a doubt.
