The brain is such a powerful tool and I keep getting reminders of that fact frequently. One of the online Meetups was on Tempo and used the music of Kraftwerk as a theme for discussions. This triggered a lot of memories from the past.
I grew up listening to Kraftwerk in the ’70s when I was young. Yes, I was young once too. Really. I used to buy HMV (His Master’s Voice - remember them, anyone?) cassette tapes and listen to them in my boom box and later with my Sony Walkman. Their techno-funk music was something different and unique. And after hours of repetitive listening, bewitching.
What was surprising is that I could “hear” the songs in my head just by reading the Kraftwerk term in a LinkedIn thread. Clearly after nearly 40+ years of listening to them, last. And they sounded so clear. All imagined and reconstructed in my brain. And two of the different albums of theirs - The Man-Machine and Trans-Europe Express.
And I did complete the experience and by going back and listening to these albums again later on Apple Music.
But then again I admire the fact about what a fantastic design our human brain is. The best of evolution at work. If only we know how to leverage it and make the best of what it has to offer us…
