I have been a fan of Steven Pressfield and his works. And about his thoughts on how creativity comes from practice and action. Without a doubt, his thoughts are valuable advice. And I ended up watching this embedded video through Seth Godin’s blog yet another favorite author of mine.

But introspecting deeply, I find that I am organically effective at creative work like the coaching I do at the organization I work for. But I lack the motivation to do the mundane. And the motivation to spread my knowledge so that I can get it inspected at scale and adapt my thinking more effectively through it.

So really it is not “Put your ass where your heart wants to be” but more of “Put your ass where your heart doesn’t want to be”. A quandary. Do you do what your heart tells you to do? Or doing what you need to do, whether you like it or not.
