I struggle to narrow down my news sources to a very few - something traditional (BBC) and categorized, something engineered for me (Google News), and something curated. Quartz was my source for the third category and it used to be behind a paywall.
I was first introduced to Quartz more than a year back by one of the blogs I read, so thank you, Rohan, if you are reading this.
Me being me, I had to figure out the article behind the block from various sources to see whether it has anything interesting to me. This I continued to so, so far.
But news sources being ubiquitous, I never got to the idea of paying for it. Not yet anyway. The great folks at Quartz have finally woken up to the competition and the market; and have removed their paywall with an option to support them if we choose to do so. I like this model and may actually get to pay for it, but as a start, I thought I will start by promoting their site.
It was a good pivot and something that needed to be encouraged immensely.
