These were my six great reads in June. Could not finish as many books as in May, but was certainly more than what I read in April last.
The Four Steps to the Epiphany: Successful Strategies for Products that Win by Steve Blank - started the Lean Startup revolution. Useful for people looking at a validated approach to product building. https://www.amazon.com/Four-Steps-Epiphany/dp/B08FTK7GWV/
Behavior in Public Places: Notes on the Social Organization of Gatherings by Erving Goffman - I followed up on my previous read from Erving Goffman’s “Presentation of Self” from last month https://www.amazon.com/Behavior-Public-Places-Organization-Gatherings/dp/B081G946M7/
Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data, and What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are by Seth Stephens-Davidowitz - is an excellent book on data science and the art of using data, especially in its misuse in the big data context today https://www.amazon.com/Everybody-Lies-audiobook/dp/B06XCYD5KG/
Thinking: The New Science of Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, and Prediction by John Brockman - I have been an avid reader of Edge.Org for many years. This is a compendium of several articles and books and a goldmine at that. The book following this “The Pattern Seekers” was identified through reading this book. There are several more in this series to read and these will be on my menu in future months https://www.amazon.com/Thinking-John-Brockman-audiobook/dp/B00VVUBUZ2/
The Pattern Seekers: How Autism Drives Human Invention by
Simon Baron-Cohen - this is a book about me or more so explains a lot about how I function the way I function. There is more to read and understand about my condition and this is one more in that journey. https://www.amazon.com/Pattern-Seekers-Autism-Drives-Invention/dp/B08W5HDWQT/
The Hidden Spring: A Journey to the Source of Consciousness by
Mark Solms - human consciousness is a pet peeve subject of mine. This is book is neither the first nor the last on that subject. A great book pushing the boundaries of thinking more deeply including addressing potential options of where consciousness arises from and how consciousness works. A fantastic read which raises more questions for me that will make me read further books on this subject. https://www.amazon.com/Hidden-Spring-Journey-Source-Consciousness/dp/B08ZGNB6DQ/
I shall write in greater detail about some of these books in future articles.
