“We are sorry to see you go” - is a common standard message I receive on the screen when I unsubscribe from most email newsletters. And I have been recently unsubscribing a lot of them in the process of decluttering and simplifying my life.
Some of them go further and make the unsubscribing process more complex. Some others beg you not to leave. “Pretty please with a cherry on top!” they say.
Not one have I seen has looked at it from the subscriber's perspective and has said something authentically different. Why not this?
“We understand the demand for your attention in today’s world. We are happy that you have decided to give us a shot earlier and even more happier that you have one less newsletter to read with this unsubscription and one less clutter in your life. We apologize that our newsletter did not serve you a purpose when we had an opportunity to do so.”
That would be the day!
