I decided to give myself a new title through my blog today. The shallow “polymath”. I know. I know. It is a bombastic ego-centric title. But what again is a shallow polymath? Is it a paradox or an oxymoron of sorts?
A polymath is according to Wikipedia, one who is an individual whose knowledge spans a substantial number of subjects, known to draw on complex bodies of knowledge to solve specific problems. Then, again how can one be a polymath and shallow?
I realize that my brain is designed to acquire 1,000’s of disparate things and then try to cross-connect these into making some meaning out of it. Even worse I see pathways and clear answers in the clutter when others around me are blind to them. Needles in the haystacks. More signals in the noise. Just the joy of being me.
But I am not a deep practitioner of anything, only the overall answers from these cross-connections seem to make sense. That is where the “shallow” comes into. Shallow polymath. Is it an ego-centric new title? Or is it a goal? Or a journey of sorts? Or a north star never reached…
Maybe we will find out one day when someone kisses the frog-prince to bring out the true person inside. Until then…
