Musings #640 over 963 days - Monday, 22 May 2023

Today is Victoria Day in Canada. A holiday from our colonial legacy. There has been much change since then. Victoria in 1901. Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, George VI, and Elizabeth II. About 30 years on average per King or Queen. And now Charles III. I ponder the relevance of the monarchy here in 2023 and whether Canada should even be part of the Commonwealth. Generational change is coming whether we like it or not.

Talking of generations I ponder where I am in it. There are several ways of looking at generations. In simple familial terms, generations are looked at as approximately 25 years. Being on the wrong side of 50, I am in the third trimester of my generation. That is one way of looking at it.

The other way is from the point of view of social generations. I am part of Generation X (here the generations range from 15-20 years approximately)

Either way, I feel that time is of the essence. If I want to make sense and meaning from what the rest of my life holds for me, the time is now!
