A few days ago I was out on a grocery run at Fortinos a higher-end grocer. I picked up a four-liter bag of milk there. Usually, I pick up two such bags but I picked up just one in order to pick up the next one at our local Walmart where is it 10 cents cheaper.
A few days later I was at Walmart and picked up another 4-liter milk bag. 10 cents saved I thought. By the time I reached home, I found one of the bags (it is 4 liters in 3 individual bags) had leaked and I lost about a dollar's worth of milk.
While there is no correlation between saving money and the bag breaking, the brain (or I) keeps making that connection as a 90-cent loss (I should be really feeling it as a one-dollar loss, but I did save 10 cents) - there is no meaning to the connection, but hey, what can I say - that is what I end up doing. Oh, my poor brain. Or just poor me.
