I woke up this morning with little motivation to exercise. It had been a down week with not as much activity as the previous two weeks. It was gloomy and incessantly drizzling and yet I wanted to break the impasse.
So finally I dressed up and went out the door with a proper rain jacket for a one-hour walk. It rained all the way and back, but after a few steps, it felt fantastic. The gloom was no bother. The pitter-patter of the rain was forgotten. The wind did not matter.
The moral being that the gloom and the possible constraints were all imagined. They ended up being trivial once I got out.
In the end, the biggest decision and action was the first step to go outside. Life was then too good to ignore or not enjoy. And a better end to the last day of the week.
