I am sure one and all would agree that “We are what we do!” - but what if it is more than that? Yes, certainly our action determines who we are, to some extent, without a doubt. But, it is the action that we take coupled with the reality around us in which we are not under the control of the reality around us.
And therefore, when we don’t take action, the reality might create the outcome that makes us who we are, who we are. We are potentially missing out on what we could have been. Confusing?
I was pondering on what if it is more than that? For example -
there are things that I know I have to do that I deliberately don’t do. And these have consequences too.
there are things that I know I have to do but I am unable to do them for whatever be the reason - pathological energy issues, psychological aspects, and lack of motivation, or perhaps some things for which one doesn’t know the reason at all.
and what about errors of omission? There are things that I would want to find deliberate answers for, but ignore finding the answers. In fact, this might be the gravest lack of action of all. If I wanted to, I could find better answers, better things to do, and better ways to do things. And by not putting in the effort, I have accepted the results from my limited action which could have had better or different outcomes.
And in all these cases, what I did not do have in a way affected my outcomes in a big way. Perhaps not quantifiable, but yet they are are a huge influence on what makes me, me.
In essence, we are what we don’t do (and to a small extent, what we do - do)
